In Exodus 12:1-14, Moses gave Israel instructions to remember the LORD’S passover:
Exo 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste:
it is the LORD'S passover.
So called "the LORD’S passover" .... for His promise to "pass over" them and save them:
Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
It was to be "a memorial" feast forever:
Exo 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial;
and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Jesus continued this ordinance with His 12 apostles:
Luke 22:13-20 And they went, and found as he had said unto them:
and they made ready the passover.
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down,
and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof,
until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said,
Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine,
until the kingdom of God shall come. (Jesus said He would not drink of this fruit of the vine it again .... until the day He kept it ‘new’ with them in His Father’s kingdom - in Matt 26:29):
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you:
this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying,
This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
Paul wrote "unto the church of God which is at Corinth,
to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus,
called to be saints,
with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord," (1 Cor 1:1) .... and told them to keep the feast:
1 Cor 5:7-8 Purge out therefore the old leaven,
that ye may be a new lump (see Rom 11:16), as ye are unleavened.
For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast,
not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness;
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth (John 1:17.
Why keep the feast? Paul taught for us to keep it because we are ‘in Christ’ WITH ‘believing Israel’ as ‘one’ .... and .... we are made ‘partakers’ WITH and AMONG them (also see Acts 20:32, 26:18; Rom 11:17, Eph 3:6):
1 Cor 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body:
for we are all partakers of that one bread.
Paul scolded the saints for their misuse of the Lord’s table (1 Cor 10:21).
He rebuked "the church of God" for their selfishness and greed when they came together (1 Cor 11:17-22, 27-34) for the Lord’s supper.
1 Cor 11:1-2 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things,
and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
Paul gave them .... what the Lord gave him to give them .... which was .... to remember His death in this memorial ordinance until He comes:
1 Cor 11:23-26 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat:
this is my body, which is broken for you:
this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: (Paul wrote that God "hath made us able ministers of the new testament" in 2 Cor 3:6.)
this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup,
ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
WHEN will He come?
He will come at the end (also see Matt 24:3-44, 13:36-43,49-50).
1 Cor 15:20-28 But now is Christ risen from the dead,
and become the firstfruits (see Rom 11:16)
of them that slept (see 1 Thess 4:14;
also Acts 7:59-60, Stephen fell asleep;
also Acts 13:36, David fell asleep;
1 Cor 11:30, 15:6; 1 Thess 5:10).
21 For since by man came death,
by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order:
Christ the firstfruits;
afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, (When the Lord Jesus Christ appears and establishes His kingdom - 2 Tim 4:1):
when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father;
when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
WHEN will these things happen? (also see 2 Peter chapter 3)
.... WHEN He comes from heaven
.... WHEN He raises the dead
.... WHEN He puts all things under Him in His kingdom
.... just like PAUL also told "all the saints in Christ Jesus" "with the bishops and deacons" (Phil 1:1):
Phil 3:20-21 For our conversation is in heaven;
from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
‘Mid-Acts-hyper-dispensationalists’ are DIVIDED on the Lord’s supper issue. Some take the Lord’s supper and some do not.
The ones that take it, say they do it because "in the cross is where the 2 different programs come together." But they say that WHILE they also claim that they have NO PART in the new testament.
The ones that don’t take the Lord’s supper, say they don’t do it because "it was part of 'Israel’s program' --- not the 'separate program' for ‘the body of Christ’."
The takers and the non-takers .... both groups are wrong!
As believers who recognize our UNITY in Christ (see Eph 4:3-6), we ought to participate in the Lord’s supper, as a memorial ordinance to show His death .... till He come .... at the end .... in His day!
1 Cor 1:7-8 So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end,
that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is David Dowell, saying, "Think about it!"
